Alexander Zverev is the 2026 US Open men's singles champion after defeating eighth seed Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6(2), 5-7, 6-2 in a three-hour-33-minute final at Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 13. It is the 29-year-old German's second Grand Slam title of the year following his maiden major at Roland Garros in June.
Shelton, 23, had electrified the home crowd by knocking out Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals, but he could not end America's long wait for a men's major champion. Andy Roddick's 2003 US Open triumph remains the last Grand Slam title won by an American man.
The final was the most-watched US Open men's championship match since ESPN began televising the tournament in 2009, averaging 3.2 million viewers on ABC and peaking at 4.0 million.
