Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels dislocated his left elbow on the final play of the first half in Week 2 against Dallas, when he planted his arm into the turf and watched it buckle gruesomely. It is the second dislocation of the same elbow in ten months, following the injury that ended his 2025 season.
ESPN reported that Daniels will likely need surgery to repair the joint but will delay any procedure until the offseason so he can return as soon as possible. Specialists confirmed no fractures or major ligament damage, and the team has not placed him on injured reserve, a sign Washington expects him back within weeks.
Daniels, the 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year, has completed 56.9 percent of his passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns this season. Marcus Mariota starts in his place, beginning with Sunday's London game against Indianapolis.
