With eleven seconds left and the Cardinals needing a touchdown and a PAT to win, Deonte Banks decided he'd had enough of the chaos. Jacoby Brissett, on fourth-and-goal from the 4, forced one toward Michael Wilson — Banks jumped the route, and with nothing but green in front of him he ran it back 98 yards as the clock hit zero. MetLife Stadium went from heart attack to delirium in about thirteen seconds.
It was a fitting finish to one of the weirdest games in recent memory. Jameis Winston gave the full Jameis experience — 250 yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions — and spent the week grumbling that he catches too much flak for "quietly managing" wins. Brissett threw two touchdowns too, but was picked off three times, falling to 2-14 as a Cardinals starter. The 1986 Super Bowl champion Giants were in the building for their 40th anniversary, and they watched this group pay them the truest possible homage: a walk-off defensive touchdown.
The Giants are 3-1 for the first time since 2022 and have won their first three home games for the first time since 2008 back at the old stadium. Banks' own afternoon was a redemption arc in miniature — a costly pass-interference flag on Marvin Harrison Jr. late, answered with the play of the game. Rookie kicker Zvada drilled a 52-yarder to keep the lead, and the Giants defense forced three turnovers when it mattered. The Giants aren't a finished product, but they're fun, and right now fun is playing football that counts.
