LaLiga handed out its September awards on Thursday and the theme was hard to miss: everything went to Barcelona. Hansi Flick was named Coach of the Month after a perfect month — four wins from four, 19 goals scored. Raphinha collected Player of the Month for the second month running. And João Cancelo completed the sweep with Goal of the Month for his rocket in the 7–2 demolition of Racing Santander.
The Raphinha numbers are getting silly. Seven goals and two assists in four September league games, including back-to-back hat-tricks against Racing Santander and Sevilla. He tops the Pichichi standings with 12, five clear of Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappé and Sergio Camello. Flick has moved him off the wing into a central striking role, handed him the captain's armband, and the Brazilian is playing the best football of his career. Mbappé, Jonathan David, Camello and Fer Niño were beaten in the vote.
Cancelo's strike was the cherry on top. Eight minutes into the Racing rout — his first LaLiga start since returning to the club in the summer — the 32-year-old let fly from outside the box and watched it crash in off the crossbar. He beat Ante Budimir and Lucas Boyé to take the prize a second time, having also won it back in September 2023. Top of the table, three awards, and a team building toward something bigger.
