This rivalry never disappoints. Alec Bohm launched a solo homer with two outs in the 10th inning on Wednesday night, lifting the Phillies to a 4-3 win over the Braves and forcing a decisive Game 3 of their NL wild-card series on Thursday in Atlanta.
Philadelphia trailed 3-1 in the eighth before Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper hit back-to-back homers off Dylan Lee to tie it. Rookie Andrew Painter then threw three scoreless innings in his postseason debut to keep the season alive, after starter Cristopher Sanchez battled through 6 2/3 innings.
The Braves had taken Game 1 by the same 5-3 score on Tuesday, when Austin Riley capped a two-out eighth-inning rally with a three-run homer off Jhoan Duran, erasing a Phillies lead built on J.T. Realmuto's two-run triple. Philadelphia has won all three previous postseason meetings between the clubs, but none of those went to a Game 3 like this.
